Real World Proofs

These are items that I would offer as proof for those who would still be skeptical.

It seems to me that if there weren't differences in digital picture quality, then this government agency must be crazy! http://www.its.bldrdoc.gov/n3/video/

And if you would like to see a a "blurry" digital picture: http://www.its.bldrdoc.gov/n3/video/examples_of_digital_video_impair/index.php

Diagnostic devices are being developed to help determine picture quality visual assessments. "Picture quality in a compressed system can change dynamically based on a combination of data rate, picture complexity, and the encoding algorithm employed."  http://www.videsignline.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=205918390

Those I've helped and I are not the only ones who have seen the degraded picture. Evidence is showing up in the HDTV discussion threads, also.

  1. Read this short thread and pay particular attention to the posters final post. Included in his comments is "and my quality went up."

  2. In another thread, the poster lamented about his poor picture quality and asked if he would get a better picture when he properly mounted his antenna...

His first post says, "Hopefully when I get the antenna roofmounted and aimed correctly the local channel will come in better because I was not impressed..."

His final post (#14) says, "The picture is by far the best picture I have seen.... My Wife actually enjoys watching Dancing with Stars on the LA feed....Stunning.. the picture that is.." http://www.highdefforum.com/showthread.php?t=51444

  3. Here a poster clearly describes a badly compromised digital picture while the other posters scramble to find an explanation. http://www.satelliteguys.us/dish-network-forum/119895-picture-quality-changed.html

  4. Here another poster installed a bigger dish...

You have a right to an antenna!

The rule prohibits most restrictions that: (1) unreasonably delay or prevent installation, maintenance or use; (2) unreasonably increase the cost of installation, maintenance or use; or (3) preclude reception of an acceptable quality signal.

Q: Who do I call if my town, community association or landlord is enforcing an invalid restriction?
A: Call the Federal Communications Commission at (888) CALLFCC (888-225-5322), which is a toll-free number, or 202-418-7096, which is not toll-free. Some assistance may also be available from the direct broadcast satellite company, broadband radio service provider, television broadcast station, or fixed wireless company whose service is desired.
